Will You Be Filing For Divorce In January?

Saturday December 27, 2008

More divorces are filed during the month of January than at any other time of the year. According to Andrea Vacca, a Manhattan based divorce attorney, “The most popular month for people to call a divorce lawyer to start the process of divorce is definitely the month of January.

"I think it's caused by a combination of people waiting to get through the holidays without causing too much upset for their families, as well as making New Year's resolutions for themselves that they will not spend another year in a bad marriage," Ms. Vacca said.

Is Ms.Vacca right? Now that you are through the Holidays will you be filing for a divorce and putting your marital problems behind you?

If you’re thinking about divorce, contact a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst to help you divide your Marital Assets (and Liabilities). 50/50 isn’t always fair and every asset doesn’t have to be split 50/50. You might want an asset your spouse doesn’t. A CDFA can also project out 20 years to see what your cash flow and net worth might look like in various scenarios.

This is your one chance to do it right!
