"Oh, man, I can’t believe he hit Rihanna!”
This is what my daughter said to me this morning as we were getting ready for school. I listened to her talk about how low it was for Chris Brown to do this and how no one should ever hit Rihanna, and then I calmly turned toward her, and I said, “No man should ever hit a woman.”
Then my son said, “Man is my friend going to be upset. She just loves Chris Brown; this is going to blow her mind. What a creep!”
At first, I was a little irked. The fact that it was a celebrity situation that was making my son and my daughter think about domestic abuse for the first time in a long while was annoying. During the few times we have had to discuss my situation and their father’s violent issues, they’ve flinched. But this morning they are both talking openly about how appalling it is for this celebrity man to hit this celebrity woman.
But when I thought about it further, I realized that it is often the celebrities that bring important issues back up to the forefront of the public’s eye. No one knows exactly happened between them but from all the reports being made it was a joint effort. I hate the fact that everyone is looking at Rihanna as the victem because they are both victems at the end of this they are both scared and i truly feel that Chris Brown will get the ugly part of this stick for a long time. I don’t believe his sins are unforgiveable but i think they both need to seek counseling and they both need to admit to the part they played in the altercation. Its NEVER right to strike another person, be it your wife, girlfriend, husband, etc. I think he showed a true lack of self control and judgment. At the very least, I cant understand why he would put his career in jeopardy like that. I would like to hear the truth about what really happened. I keep hearing things about Rhianna hitting him and others things. Its not fair to guys when women do this. Men aren’t punching bags for women. Then when he can’t take anymore and does something she gets the worst of it and no one cars about what she did to him. Women will always be seen as the victim no matter what. Women know they can get away with hitting men because people will run to help them. They can use the I’m a woman as there excuse. A case similar to this is a woman named Paige Peterson abused her boyfriend. The title on TMZ is Cops Say Hot Model Has Dirtiest Mouth Ever. They use hot model. They don’t mention she abused her boyfriend.
