Mr. and Mrs. Putin's Divorce

By June 10, 2013

Follow me on:

Putin Shirtless

It looks like Russia finally has modern leadership and all the trimmings...divorce included. Mr. and Mrs. Putin are now joining ranks with the rest of the Western world, a milestone in Russian history has been reached. No longer will post-Soviet spouses be forced to wait until their husbands keel over from liver failure (all that vodka).

As a woman and spectator, one who has seen the many photos of Mr. Putin shirtless I have to side with Mrs. Putin and what I can only image has been her long-suffering marriage. Yes, I know that it takes two to break a marriage but, one has to assume that while Putin may be the "Party" leader, he can't exactly be a party to live with.

I wish her well. As for him, let the chips fall where they may, both politically and otherwise.

One less bell to answer
One less egg to fry
One less man to pick up after...onward and upward Mrs. Putin!

I don’t see how you sided with mrs. putin based solely on publicity photos. What exactly did you “learn” from them? Why do you assume she did anything in their relationship including frying eggs and picking up after vladimir?!? Why do you assume it was “long suffering” for her and not for him? Try running a country (which is culturally different than ours) when your most intimate partner doesn’t even have your back.

Is this sarcasm and I’m just not getting it?

The quote above from the post pretty much represents my belief that she played a role in the demise of their marriage. Probably not to the degree he did but, she played her own role. The rest of the post was humor Steve…my personal opinion based on photos and news that I’ve seen about Putin, not all men but Putin.

Putin has cheated on his wife since he headed Soviet intelligence operations in Germany from 1985 to 1990. According to some news sources he is now having an affair with a young woman several years younger than himself.

I’m curious how you know that his intimate partner didn’t have his back. Isn’t that you making an assumption?

Putin not only looks ridiculous in his shirtless photo ops, he is a womanizer with a history of serial cheating. That is why I side with her. Not because he is a man, but because, if you keep up with political news it is widely know that the man is a megalomaniac who has, over the years had little respect for his wife.

The stress of running a country doesn’t excuse bad marital behavior. I’m curious why me siding with her upsets you so. Does siding with her, in her situation mean that I side with all women against all men?

No, it doesn’t.

“have his back”, this was an example of an assumption, like you assuming he had an affair based on allegations, and that she was the one who was miserable (based on nothing). She probably had it pretty good compared to the average Jane however (safe assumption).

A one liner about both being responsible is not equal time or unbiased.

Can you recall ever writing a condescending article like this about a female celebrity or public figure? We know women cheat just as much or more than men, and while I don’t agree with the shirtless double standard, perhaps you can find some equally trivial aspect to condone her on and praise her husband for his obvious suffering?
