Jon and Kate Gosselin Announce Decision To Divorce

By , About.com Guide

We aren’t ashamed of feeling a lack of control. We know that it doesn’t mean our character is flawed…that we are humans who are sometimes humbled. That is something Kate isn’t able to admit to herself and others.

That lack of humility keeps her from being able to take responsibility for her role in the demise of her marriage. Even with all the pain she is experiencing she is still a control freak, still pushing Jon’s buttons and then wondering why he is so angry with her…why he won’t have a conversation.

For example, on tonight’s show Jon had decided where the playhouses would be put before they arrived. Kate had known for days that he had a plan but she waited until the playhouses arrived and were being unloaded to express her opinion…one that differed from Jon’s of course.

Why not express her opinion to Jon before the cameras and playhouses arrived? That is a question only Kate can answer but in my opinion she took it as one more opportunity to emasculate Jon in front of dozens of people and the television audience tuned in. It was Kate being Kate. No lessons learned and deeper damage to her relationship with Jon.

Anyone with any interest in the marital problems of Kate and Jon Gosselin has an opportunity to learn from them. Take your emotions and beliefs out of the equation, step back and look at the situation from the perspective of both Jon and Kate and you will clearly see that this is a marriage that failed due to the behaviors of both parties, not just one or the other.

This, like all marriages that fail did so at the hands of both spouses. That, if anything is what I hope my readers take away from what we are seeing played out on television between Jon and Kate Gosselin.
