Robbin Williams Divorce

By Cathy Meyer, About.com

”Ah yes, divorce, from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man's genitals through his wallet.” Robin Williams

Williams Divorce Papers

I’m going to take it for granted that Robin Williams is worth a hell of a lot more than he was during his last divorce. Hopefully he is financially secure enough that whatever settlement he and his wife Marcia come to he will be able to walk away with his genitals intact.

Celebrity divorces don’t surprise me anymore. Let’s face it divorce in Hollywood is almost as common as marriage. I do hate it though when I hear about a celebrity divorcing who has managed to stay married for nearly 20 years. I like Robin and hope he and his family weather this divorce without too much emotional, financial and legal upheaval.

Robin and Marsha were married in April 1989, have two children: a daughter Zelda, 18, and a son Cody, 16. Marsha is asking for joint legal custody of Cody; with physical custody going to her and visitation for Robin. Robin and Marsha met while she worked as a nanny for Robin's first son, Zachary, born in 1983 to Robin and his first wife.

Robin Williams and Marsha Williams, married in April 1989, are splitting up. Marsha Williams filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on March 21, seeking to end the marriage on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

In 1991, the Williams founded Blue Wolf Productions; Marsha produced "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Patch Adams," "Jakob the Liar" and "Robin Williams Live on Broadway."

They also created the Windfall Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on education, health, the environment and the arts. Marsha has particularly been involved with Doctors Without Borders and Seacology; Robin with the Christopher Reeve Foundation and Comic Relief. Their house, in Sea Cliff, was the site of a variety of big-ticket fundraising dinners and cocktail parties, but also Halloween central for neighborhood trick-or-treaters.

Garces' lawyer, Robert Kaufman of Beverly Hills, would provide no information.
