Belinda Rachman Esq. Bio

By Cathy Meyer, About.com

Belinda Rachman Esq.

Belinda Rachman Esq.

Belinda was the child of divorce and has had to duck her parents' verbal bullets flying over her head most of her life. When her sister in law got married, the groom's mother didn't come to the wedding because her ex would be there. She has watched couples lives and co-parenting relationship being destroyed in divorce court and vowed she would try to end the madness by promoting divorce mediation. Belinda has been married since 1987 to Eliot Rachman and they raise French Bulldogs instead of children. Belinda raised one of her orphan students, Michael Matta, for 10 years until he died of Aids at 22 years old.

Experience:

Belinda has been a family law attorney since 1996 but has a Masters in Special Education and taught emotionally disturbed children for many years. The the focus of her mediation practice is doing what is in the best interest of the children. Four years ago Belinda decided she could no longer participate in the adversarial divorce system and walked away from a successful law practice in order to do only mediation. The joy of her life has been keeping as many couples out of court as possible and has worked with over 185 couples with a 100% success rate with each couple making a deal and saving, on average, $37,500 in attorney fees.

She has joined forces with Ed Sherman, Esq. who founded Nolo Press in the early 1970s and spawned the self help divorce revolution by publishing legal self help books, and their mission is to transform the way Americans get divorced from litigation to mediation. They are launching their free teleseminars promoting divorce mediation soon. Email belindaesq@hotmail.com to get information on being part of this peaceful divorce movement.

If you know anyone who is even thinking about getting a divorce, have them look at my website. It is so important that parents work together instead of fighting each other. Mediation is the perfect way to divorce. Litigation is expensive and the kids are caught in the crossfire. I should know, I was one of those kids 40+ years ago!!!
