Appeal Defined

Definition: An appeal is the review of the trial court's decision by a higher court. Appeals courts analyze the trial court's judgment for errors in it's conclusion of the law. States allow divorce judge's substantial discretion in determing a court order. Unless a judge makes a significant error "of law" that adversely impacts either party to the divorce, the order will hold up under appeal.
