Want to save your marriage? Instead of spending money on marriage counseling or forking out big bucks to a divorce attorney, try buying season tickets and take each other out to the ball game.
According to a study by the University of Denver Center for Marital and Family Studies living in a city with a major league baseball team may reduce the chance of couples divorcing. It seems that cities with major league baseball teams have a 28% lower divorce rate.
Howard Markman, director of the Center for Marital and Family Studies at the University of Denver says that one of the theories behind the divorce rate reduction is the fun of watching a ball game. According to Professor Markman, "Going to a baseball game and not talking about relationship issues, but rather having fun and talking as friends is one of the ways to protect and preserve love,"
Throw in some peanuts and crackerjacks and who knows, you may hit a home run and live happily ever after. It has to beat sitting at home and rhubarbing.
